Identity Verification with Persona

For the most thorough verification levels, Cointiply partners with Persona — a trusted identity verification service used by many major platforms. Persona runs inside a secure window directly on the verification page, so you never leave Cointiply.

When you'll see it

Persona handles one or more of these steps, depending on what your verification requires:

  • Government ID — "Verify your government-issued ID"
  • Proof of Address — "Upload a recent document showing your address"
  • Liveness Check — "A quick face match to confirm it's you"

If you need more than one of these, they're usually combined into a single guided session so you only go through the flow once.

How it works

  1. On the Persona step, click to start. A secure verification window opens.
  2. Follow the guided steps inside the window — it walks you through photographing your ID, capturing a quick selfie video for liveness, or uploading an address document, depending on what's needed.
  3. When you finish, the window closes and the page shows "Reviewing your verification". Results usually arrive within moments — the page checks automatically every few seconds.

Closed the window by accident? No problem — just click Reopen Verification on the page.

Tips for each step

Government ID

  • Use a valid (non-expired) passport, driver's license, or national ID.
  • Photograph the original document in good lighting — all corners visible, no glare.

Proof of Address

  • Use a recent document showing your name and address — for example a utility bill or bank statement.

Liveness Check

  • Find good lighting and remove sunglasses, hats, or masks.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts — it only takes a few seconds.

If it doesn't pass

  • You'll usually be invited to try again with clearer photos — most failures are simply blurry or glary images.
  • One ID per person: if your government ID was already used on another Cointiply account, it can't be used again. Each person may verify only one account.
  • If verification can't be completed after retries, you'll be directed to contact support for a personal review.

How long does it last?

Persona checks stay valid for about a year, so you won't be asked to repeat them often.

Privacy

Persona is an industry-standard identity platform. Your documents and photos are used only for verification, transmitted securely, and never shared publicly.
