Velocity Meter & Frenzy: Push the Vault Into Overdrive
The Velocity Meter is a shared tug-of-war gauge in Crack the Vault. It surfaces when the crew is hammering the vault harder than they normally have been — and if you can push it all the way to the top, it fires a Frenzy: a short burst where everyone's attacks hit far harder.
What it measures
The meter watches the vault's live attack pace — how fast the crew is using gear and landing hits right now — and compares it to the recent-normal baseline for that vault. "Attacking harder than usual" means the current pace is running above that baseline. It's one shared meter for the whole vault, not a personal one, so everyone's activity feeds the same bar.
The meter only appears before an event — it's a pre-event gauge. While any event (including a Frenzy) is live, it hides.
How it rises and drains
- It appears and starts around the halfway mark when the crew meaningfully pushes above baseline.
- It rises as the crew keeps accelerating — attacking faster and faster.
- It has a bit of gravity: if the pace merely holds steady, the bar slowly bleeds down (the vault pushing back).
- If the crew eases off, it drains faster.
- Hit 0 and it disappears into a short cooldown.
- Hit 100 and it fires the Frenzy.
So it's a genuine tug-of-war: to fill it you have to keep raising the intensity, not just keep it constant.
How to push it up
- Keep attacking — deploy gear and land hits, and do it faster than the vault has been getting hit recently.
- Rally the crew. Because the meter is shared, more players piling on at once is the quickest way to climb it. Chat is a great place to coordinate a push.
The Frenzy
Topping the meter out fires a Frenzy mini-event: a short, global power overdrive where everyone's attacks are multiplied (currently 4× for about 2 minutes). It flows through the normal damage system, so every hit during the window counts for much more — a great time to spend your best gear. After it ends, the meter goes on cooldown before it can build again.
Good to know
- The Velocity Meter is a Cointiply Labs feature and may be toggled on or off by the team, so you won't always see it.
- It can't be scheduled — it only shows up when real, accelerating activity earns it, and it hides whenever an event is already running.
- Exact numbers (activation pace, rise/drain rates, cooldown, Frenzy multiplier and duration) can be tuned, so treat the figures above as the current setup.
